What Is the Ambassador Program?
The Ambassador Program is Beat The Streets' peer facilitator training system. We train incarcerated individuals to lead transformation study groups inside correctional facilities.
This isn't just another certificate to collect. It's real leadership with real responsibility. Ambassadors guide others
through our curriculum, facilitate discussions, provide accountability, and multiply the reach of transformation programming—all without requiring constant outside staff presence.

SUSTAINABILITY
Lockdowns happen. Outside volunteers can't always access facilities. Ambassadors are already inside. Programming continues regardless of external constraints.

The Ambassador Journey
The Ambassador Program has four tiers. You progress through
demonstrated commitment and capability. Each tier builds skills
and expands your influence.
TIER 1: READER
Where everyone begins.
Complete at least one full curriculum (Seeds of Success, G.I.F.T., or Critical Game Theory) through self-study or group participation.
Requirements: - Complete full curriculum - Submit reflection exercises - Demonstrate commitment to personal transformation
Recognition: - Certificate of Completion - Eligibility to apply for Tier 2
Timeline: 9-13 weeks (depending on program)
TIER 2: FACILITATOR
Lead your first study group.
After completing the curriculum as a participant, train to facilitate. Learn group management, discussion techniques, and how to guide others through the material.
Requirements: - Completed Tier 1 (program completion) - Facilitator training (materials provided) - Facility approval for peer facilitation - Commit to facilitating one full curriculum cycle
Recognition: - Facilitator Certification - Facilitator Guide and materials - Ongoing support from BTS team - Eligibility for Tier 3
Timeline: 2-4 weeks training + 9-13 weeks facilitation
TIER 3: UNIT AMBASSADOR
Expand your reach.
Manage multiple study groups within your housing unit or facility section. Recruit and support new facilitators. Coordinate with facility staff and BTS leadership.
Requirements: - Successfully facilitated 2+ curriculum cycles - Demonstrated leadership and reliability - Trained and mentored at least one new facilitator - Positive standing with facility administration
Recognition: - Unit Ambassador designation - Direct communication with BTS leadership - Input on program development - Eligibility for Tier 4
Timeline: Ongoing (minimum 6 months as active Facilitator)
TIER 4: INSTITUTIONAL LEADER
Lead facility-wide.
Coordinate Beat The Streets programming across the entire facility. Serve as primary liaison between BTS and facility administration. Develop new facilitators and ensure program sustainability.
Requirements: - Proven track record as Unit Ambassador - Strong relationship with facility administration - Demonstrated ability to develop other leaders - Commitment to long-term program sustainability
Recognition: - Institutional Leader designation - Featured in BTS communications (with permission) - Priority support from BTS team - Recommendation letters upon release - Priority for community leadership roles post-release
Timeline: Ongoing (minimum 6 months as Unit Ambassador)
